FAQs
Please see the below Frequently Asked Questions.
- Is the DiaShield - Slim case compatible with all insulin pump types?
- Please verify the type of DiaShield case is compatible with your insulin pump before purchase. DiaShield - Slim is currently compatible with the Tandem t:slim X2 insulin pump only.
- Is the DiaShield - Slim case waterproof under all conditions?
- No. DiaShield - Slim is IPX7 rated and protects from water ingress at 1 meter in depth for up to 30 minutes. Full waterproofing requires appropriate Vaseline application and case integrity as outlined in the instructions for use (IFU). Significant force to the case from activities like surfing or wakeboarding could jeopardize case integrity. Please read the Instructions for Use for additional information regarding appropriate environments for the case. Do not fully submerge your case or expose to water without applying Vaseline as instructed.
- Is there a warranty available for damaged DiaShield - Slim cases?
- If the IFU is followed and there is no physical damage to the product or excessive wear and tear, and the case still fails to prevent the ingress of water, we will replace your case for free within one year of purchase of the product.
- Is maintenance required to the case for full functionality?
- Yes, it is important to keep the rubber gasket areas clean. If dust or debris are introduced to the case when it is opened, this may compromise the case’s ability to effectively prevent ingress of water. Always clean the rubber areas prior to each use, and prior to the application of Vaseline. Inspect all sides of the top and bottom housing for cracks, scratches, foreign objects (dust, lint) or other damages that may compromise its water resistance prior to each use. Do not use your case if damage is found or your case fails to prevent water ingress during initial testing prior to use.
- My insulin tubing will not fit fully in the insulin tubing trench. Does my case still provide full waterproofing even if it can fully close?
- No. It is critical that the tubing sits entirely within tubing track. Rotate the luer lock to ensure the tubing sits in the trench. Full waterproofing cannot be maintained if tubing sits outside of the tubing track.
- How often should I inspect the case?
- Prior to each use the case must be inspected to ensure there is no dust, debris, or foreign objects that could impair the cases ability to prevent the ingress of water. Do not use your case if damage is found or your case fails to prevent water ingress during initial testing prior to use.
